Trail Builder @ Happy Trails Construction

About Happy Trails Construction and the Trails we build:

The elements of good trail design have to be matched to realities on the ground.

The trail needs to abide by principles of hydrology, soil science, and geometry while achieving the equally important objectives of connecting people with the natural environment and fun while fitting into the landscape, and “flow.

Happy Trails uses mechanized equipment to remove the majority of the organic material, small trees and scrub to provide a solid and sustainable trail tread. Clay is sometimes taken from beside the trail to harden the surface, these ‘borrow pits’ are then covered with the organic scrub.

Switchbacks, full bench, and grade reversals are built into the trail for water control; low lying areas are avoided as are fall line trails.
